About the Client

Name story: Koi Pond - Koi no ike - 鯉の池

Our “Koinoike” project aims to educate, inform, and promote the interest of keeping and appreciating koi decorative fish. Yet, raising koi is time-consuming and requires more than sprinkling little flakes in the fishbowl. We aim to build a Koi-keeping network for mutual support of the interest among our clients.

We need an app or mobile website to support those who keep, raise, and appreciate the beauty of koi and are interested in doing so in a substantial, eco-friendly way.

These were some of the preferences shared by the client for the logomark. Based on these preferences, I derived four major style elements that the client preferred for their logo.

K is getting formed by the mouth of the fish. The whiskers are representative of koi too.

The fish head and the fish tail are being formed by the negative space within the letter “K”.

Here, I have used thick strokes to make the fish outline following the logos the clients liked.

I made use of negative space between the two koi fish to form K here.

Final Logo

I revised the logo because the previous designs were not scalable. The "K" representing "Koinoike" in the logomark caused issues when resizing. To address this, I created a simpler version while maintaining the client's foundational style preferences.

Logo Colors

I chose white, black, and red based on the client's preferences and their cultural significance with Koi fish. Moreover, white balanced the intensity of red and black, creating a visually striking and versatile color scheme suitable for modern design.
